Experience ‘Explore The Outdoors’ Festival At Live Oak Landing

Posted on - Laura Bernstien

We work hard to ensure that our kids benefit from classroom learning but how much do they know about our “outdoor classrooms?” Our children need to go outside and engage with nature. There is no better time to explore what Florida has to offer than now, thanks to the upcoming “Explore the Outdoors” festival.

What’s the festival all about?

‘Explore The Outdoors’ is a nature festival geared to children. This event will help kids in Walton County and all over the Emerald Coast get back to the great outdoors. It is designed to educate young minds on the wonders of nature by sharing great spaces to explore the outdoors.

The event will be at Live Oak Landing, right at a pleasant waterfront location. It will feature special nature stations throughout the recreational area.  Kids will have a chance to engage in a variety of different hands-on activities including giveaways, interactive educational exhibits, archery, wildlife encounters, boating, hydro-biking, kayaking, fishing and lots more. Children from 6-years-old and up will be allowed to participate in various water activities during the free community event.

Experience family fun at its peak and make sure to enjoy the exhibits put on by a variety of agencies, organizations, and businesses.  Kids will learn to fish, go boating, learn from the Florida Fishand Wildlife, see exhibits from Florida State Parks, enjoy a touch tank, learn from beekeepers, see butterflies, do crafts, and more.  Exhibits are provided by Emerald Coast Hydrobike, Freeport Parks and Recreation, Backwater Tours, Choctawhatchee Audubon Society, Florida State Park, Wounded Warriors, Northwest Florida Astronomy Club, Nonie’s Ark Animal Encounters, Glendale Memorial Nature Preserve, Navarre Beach Marine Science, Walton County Master Gardeners, Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge, Florida Sea Grant, Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance, and more.  Can you imagine what they will come up with?  I can’t wait!  Also, kids will be greeted  by Smokey the Bear.
